Where the Wild Things Are

A look inside our daily life.

Preparation Goes a Long Way

Sunday, June 21, 2009

A funny story about Will- who hates to 'waste time' doing things like changing his clothes. So when I sent him upstairs Sunday morning to get ready for church, I should not have been suprised that he came down with three shirts on. When I asked why he had on a red t-shirt, and undershirt and a golf shirt, he giggled and said 'I don't know...'. So I had him take off his undershirt and let him wear the red t-shirt under his golf shirt. So, we got to church, get back in the car- nothing unsual. But, when we got home, Will got out of the car holding his khaki pants and golf shirt- wearing shorts and his red t-shirt! He said 'I'm ready to play!' He was so proud of himself! Now, I guess, I am going to have to check to see what all he has on before we leave! It was 90 degrees yesterday- he could not have been comfortable!!

Summer Fun

So, we have been having a lot of fun so far this summer. Have spent a lot of time at the pool, the library, the park and on our bikes. Will and Ben are swimming GREAT and Kate loves the water, too! We try to make it to the pool a few times a week. The library is also a favorite hot spot! We have picked out a lot of great new books. Will is especially enjoying checking out books with his own card. He is working towards a new bike- so he is reading ALOT! We go to our neighborhood park as much as we can, too. We have started playing tennis and the boys like to ride their bikes on the basketball courts. And, boy, do we ever ride our bikes. We ride atleast 1 mile each day. Kate loves the bike seat- and I tell you, I sure get a workout on the hills! I took the kids to ride bikes on the greenway yesterday. We had such fun and rode just over 2 miles. We saw the turtles and looked for deer. No luck on the deer! But, it sure was fun! Hope you are having a great summer!!

Will's Last Days of Kindergarten

Finally, I am sitting down to add pictures and some info on the last days of school. Will had so much fun! On Monday, they had 'silly hat day'. He was so excited to wear the sombrero- kate liked it, too! Tuesday was bring your favorite game to school. We skipped that- he wanted to take Monopoly- WAY too many pieces! And, on the last day, they just played and played! Enjoy the pictures:

School's Out For Summer!

Thursday, June 11, 2009

I can't believe it! Today was the first offical day of summer vacation! Will had his last day of kindergarten yesterday! He is now a rising first grader! Ben, Kate and I picked him up from school around 2:30 and went out for fancy cupcakes to celebrate! Ben couldn't wait for us to go get Will. He must have asked me 10 times if it was time to go pick Will up. It was such fun! Will had a great last day and got a GREAT report card!! All 3's (which is the best you can do. He even improved on his listening!!) We are so going to miss Ms. Szura! What a great year of school!!
On another note, with summer here, Kate has decided that she would no longer like to wear diapers! Over the last couple of weeks, she has been taking her diaper off every night- mulitple times and sometimes during the day! So, after talking to several other moms, I decided to start potty training. She is doing GREAT! We have been quite successful. It is amazing what my children will do for an M& M! So, I am not going to jinx myself- I am sure that we will have some setbacks. But, really, to be potty training already?!?! I don't even think the boys are totally potty trained now!
Ben is really enjoying his summer! We have been to the pool a few times and he is really swimming well. He is also so excited that is favorite playmate is now out of school!
So,that is what has been going on here. I'll post pictures when I can get on the other computer!

MPTS Spring Carnival

Today was a busy day around here! Will's school had their end of the year Kindergarten Program at 2pm. They were also celebrating 80 years with the big Spring Carnival late this afternoon. Will's program was just great! The children say TONS of songs- many of which were barely understandable!! What fun to watch them! Kate and Ben had a great time, as well. Kate clapped after each song and danced in her stroller! After, we all (Ron included, he was playing hookey from work this afternoon!) headed over to the Nature Museum and Freedom park. That was so much fun, as well! While we were looking for ducks in the park, we came across a black water snake in the lake that was easily 4 feet long! The boys just LOVED watching it swim across the lake and then climb up on land near us. Around 4:30, we headed back to MPTS for the big spring carnival. The kids had a great time sliding on the bouncy jumpers and eating popcorn and cotton candy! Kate, however, did not have as much fun as it was not geared towards toddlers! When we had had all the fun we could handle, we headed to McAllisters for dinner then home for ice cream! What a fun start to the summer!!
